With great sadness we announce the sudden loss of SSAA Sydney branch Senior Vice President Peter Thomson. We are saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, 29 July 2023.

Peter was doing what he loved, volunteering as a Range Officer at Anzac Range, Malabar, an activity to which Peter had dedicated more than 30  years of his life. Peter’s passion and dedication to SSAA Sydney was unmatched, serving on the committee for 14 years, where he had just commenced a further 3 year term as Senior Vice President. Peter was also a director on the SSAA Pty Ltd board.

Peter’s passion was introducing new people to the shooting sports. Peter served as a Safe Shooting Instructor, where he would regularly be in the top 5 instructors in NSW for the number of tests conducted. As well as dedicating most weekends as a Range Officer at Anzac Range Peter also volunteered his time to coach new shooters at our Junior and Ladies Try Shooting events.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Peter’s wife Ella and the rest of the Thomson family at this truely sad time. Details of Peter’s funeral will be posted once they become available.
